About The Austin Séance

The Austin Séance is a creative and experimental collaboration devoted to the history and practice of American séances and Spiritualism. Led by Artistic Director Albert Lucio and Editorial Director Jake Cordero, The Austin Séance has operated from its home base in Central Texas since 2016. Its work includes séance demonstrations in museums and other public institutions, occult workshops, occult lectures, and academic seminars. The Austin Séance also operates an editorial division and publishes a quarterly journal. The Austin Séance has been featured in Texas Monthly, NPR’s Texas Standard radio program, TV broadcasts and more.

About The Serpent Tattoo and Occult Shop

The Serpent Tattoo and Occult Shop offers tattoos, tarot readings, books and handmade spiritual supplies. Proprietors Rachel Kolar and Nixie Vly share over 40 years collective tattooing experience and a love of arcane, sacred, natural, and folkloric imagery, and their artwork graces many of the goods for offer in the shop. Nixie, a Vodou practitioner and tarot reader since age 14, provides a range of spiritual services. Rachel curates the shop’s curios. Together they provide a welcoming space for the devotedly mystical and the curious alike.
