IMPROV 100: Say Yes! (Intro to Improv), Saturdays, Fall '26

You'll learn how to actively listen, to use your own life to create collaborative stories, and you'll work on the fundamental principles of improvisation: what it means to say, "Yes, And", how to tell stories that include everyone in the room, how to stop worrying about failing, and the games and concepts behind what we do on stages around the world!

Prerequisites: No Training Necessary, Beginners and Seasoned Performers Are Both Welcome!

About the Teacher: Michelle Hippe has been a proud member of the Unexpected Productions ensemble since 1999 and has taught improv with UP since 2005. Her work extends beyond the Market Theater, where she has studied and performed in Portland, Chicago, Vancouver, and Berlin, bringing a diverse range of improv perspectives back to her home stage.

As an instructor, Michelle finds that every class offers something new, thanks to the curiosity and creativity of her students. She is passionate about the sense of play, collaboration, and community that emerges through the practice of “Yes, and,” and strives to create an environment where performers of all levels feel supported and inspired.
