TEA TASTING & STORY CIRCLE: The Art of Making Matcha
A hands-on journey into Japanese matcha—taste, whisk, connect, and experience tea as a mindful practice.
Tea is not only something we drink. It is something we practice.
This month, we explore the art of making matcha as a way of cultivating presence, attention, and hospitality. Through guided tasting, storytelling, and hands-on preparation, we'll discover how the quality of a bowl is shaped not only by the tea itself, but also by the way we meet it.
Together we'll:
- Taste exceptional Japanese matchas of this year from renowned tea makers.
- Learn the history of matcha and the traditions behind its preparation.
- Explore traditional tea tools and proper whisking techniques.
- Prepare a bowl of traditional usucha for yourself.
- Create a bowl for another participant as an expression of honoring her/him and care.
- Make a Korean matcha latte.
- Reflect on tea as an embodied practice of presence.
More than learning to make matcha, this circle invites us to slow down, refine our perception, and experience tea with greater awareness.
All tea and materials are provided. Limited to 8 participants.
