Get your hands colorful and learn all about natural dyes with artist Vero Mendoza in this fun, hands-on workshop!
Vero Mendoza a 4th generation Zapotec textile artist from Teotitlán Del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico.Vero is excited to share her natural dye workshops with the Oaxacan diaspora and Southern California arts community for the 5th time.
In this workshop, you will learn ancient techniques of washing, carding, and dyeing wool with natural products that have been inherited from generation to generation. The Zapotec artisan Vero Mendoza will demonstrate the process she uses in the production of her textiles made on a pedal loom.
Each participant is asked to bring a small cotton garment so they can experience the magic of natural dyeing themselves. This can be a bucket hat, a scarf, or something no larger than 12"x12"
