Four-week watercolor class for all levels: perfect for beginners and a great refresher for those with some experience!

THIS WORKSHOP IS 4 CLASSES THAT MEETS ON CONSECUTIVE THURSDAYS. YOUR PURCHASED TICKET IS GOOD FOR ALL FOUR CLASSES.

Led by artist Heather Rippert, this four-week, all-levels watercolor class offers an engaging and supportive introduction to the medium for absolute beginners, while also providing a valuable refresher and skill-building opportunities for those with some prior experience.

Course Description
Discover the expressive and vibrant world of watercolor painting in this comprehensive four-week workshop. Guided by expert instructor, Heather Rippert, you will explore both fundamental and intermediate techniques in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. Each session combines live demonstrations with hands-on practice, allowing participants of all skill levels to develop confidence and create beautiful, finished artworks.

What You Will Learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Understand the characteristics of watercolor materials, including different papers, brushes, and pigments.
• Master essential techniques such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brushing, and various washes (flat, graded, variegated).
• Explore color theory and learn how to mix harmonious palettes and achieve different effects.
• Apply principles of design and composition to plan and execute your own paintings.
• Begin to develop your own personal style while working on varied subject matter, which may include landscapes, still life, or other compositions.

Course Outline (General)
Week 1: Introduction to materials, water-to-paint ratios, and basic washes.
Week 2: Exploring wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, introducing color theory and mixing.
Week 3: Focusing on composition, value, and texture; incorporating techniques like lifting, splattering, etc.
Week 4: Applying learned skills to create a finished painting project, followed by group critique and discussion on preserving/presenting artwork.
