50th Anniversary El Grito de Lares Community Street Fair
Desde 1976 hemos conmemorado nuestro primer grito de inde de 1868. Ahora 50 años continuamos en comunidad celebrando ese grito rebelde.
For fifty years, the El Grito de Lares Community Street Fair has brought generations of Bronx families together on Vyse Avenue to celebrate Puerto Rican heritage, culture, music, food, and community.
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, we proudly celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this historic Bronx tradition.
El Grito de Lares commemorates the historic uprising that took place in Lares, Puerto Rico, on September 23, 1868. Since 1976, residents of the South Bronx have gathered annually on Vyse Avenue to honor that legacy while celebrating the strength, resilience, and cultural pride of the Puerto Rican community.
