Join us in Bryan, Ohio, for a joyous weekend of community, generosity, and cultural tradition! All are warmly welcome
Welcome to the Annual Festival of Giving, Kathina Robe Ceremony & Pets Blessings!
Join us for a beautiful weekend of community, generosity, and tradition at the Loving Kindness Meditation Center. Whether you are a longtime practitioner of Buddhism or simply curious to learn more about our culture and practices, you are warmly invited to share in this special and joyous occasion.
What is the Kathina Robe Ceremony? Dating back over 2,500 years, Kathina is a traditional festival of giving and gratitude. It marks the end of the monastics' rainy season retreat. During this time, the lay community comes together to express their appreciation by offering new robes, food, and daily supplies to the monks who have dedicated their time to teaching mindfulness, peace, and spiritual growth.
It is a vibrant, uplifting celebration filled with cultural heritage, reflection, and the shared joy of giving (dana).
