Join Rick on a funny and heartfelt journey through childhood and into territory he has never experienced before: fatherhood. Revisiting memories of growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Rick embraces life’s highs and lows while confronting the anger and abandonment created by growing up without his father. Before beginning his own new chapter as a dad, he searches for the silver lining inside that trauma. Through colorful characters, original music, heartfelt storytelling, poetry, honesty, vulnerability, and humor, Rick transforms painful memories into a roller coaster of emotion and laughter. The show explores universal themes of fatherhood, abandonment, childhood trauma, adulthood, healing, and the possibility of breaking cycles. For Rick, creating solo work from his own life has itself become a space for personal growth and healing through laughter and truth. Vamos a reir un poco invites audiences to reflect, relate, connect—and, as the title promises, laugh a little.
