When a struggling Black comedian in Los Angeles, the “off-brand Kelly Rowland,” hits rock bottom, she discovers that her chaotic life has been guided all along by a heavenly writers’ room. She embarks on a hilarious, heartfelt journey from feeling invisible… to being hired by the ultimate Showrunner.

With over 30 different characters, the show blends stand-up comedy, autobiographical storytelling, music, satire, and magical realism. Lauren’s journey moves through childhood dreams, family heartbreak, artistic ambition, grief, and an evolving relationship with faith. God Has a Writer’s Room explores what it means to be a talented but invisible Black woman — and what God might be doing during the chapters of our lives that don’t go as planned.
