Mindfulness Meditation Taster Session
The Bothy within The Hidden Gardens @ the Tramway
Mindfulness meditation is a grounded, practical way of relating to life. It invites us to step out of the constant stream of thinking and gently reconnect with the present moment — meeting our lives as they actually are, rather than as our minds so often tell us they are.
Through paying attention in this way, we can begin to find a little more acceptance for what is here, develop a steadier relationship with our thoughts and emotions, and discover that even in the midst of a busy life, moments of calm and clarity are possible.
Whether you've been curious about mindfulness for a while but never quite found the time, or you've dismissed it as something involving robes, beads and chanting, this session is for you.
Mindfulness meditation is simple, accessible and deeply relevant to everyday life. It isn't about emptying the mind, escaping reality or becoming someone different. It's about learning to be more present with the life you're already living.
During this relaxed taster session, I'll introduce the foundations of mindfulness meditation, explore some of the common misconceptions surrounding the practice, and guide you through a short meditation. There will also be plenty of opportunity to ask questions in a friendly, informal environment.
I've been practising mindfulness meditation for several years and have recently completed an eight-month mindfulness meditation teacher training course. My own practice has changed the way I relate to life's inevitable ups and downs, and I'd love the opportunity to share this practice with others.
