Remembering Your Kitchen Ghosts: Food as a Conduit to the Ancestors
Step into an evening where stories, memories, and flavors come together around the table. Remembering Your Kitchen Ghosts: Food as a Conduit to the Ancestors is a unique banquet inspired by Crystal Wilkinson's acclaimed culinary memoir, Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts, a celebration of the Black Appalachian food traditions, family recipes, and the generations of women whose love and resilience continue to nourish us today.
Ben Holt of Root Down Farm will bring recipes to life from the rich culinary heritage of Appalachia while showcasing locally sourced ingredients and seasonal flavors.
More than a meal, this banquet is an opportunity to gather in community, celebrate the traditions that shape us, and remember the "kitchen ghosts"—the ancestors whose hands, wisdom, and love continue to guide us every time we gather around the table.
