Barb's Lifetime Love of Quilts

Barb's Lifetime Love of Quilts

Overview

Meet Barb Donaho, quilter and see a variety of her quilts.

Barb grew up on a small ranch on Lookout Mountain, where her mother taught her to sew at an early age. Since then, handiwork has been an absolute joy. As a young girl, she designed and made many of her own clothes. Eventually she moved on to her real love--the art of quilting. Barb taught herself to quilt because there were no instruction books, nor beautiful fabrics or even rotary cutters.

Currently, Barb's top priority is making baby quilts for the food pantry Sharing with Sheridan, which is sponsored by her congregation, St. Philip Lutheran Church.

Barb's quilts have been displayed at numerous sites including the Colorado State Capital--one special quilt, "Butterflies and Flowers," was selected by the Denver Art Museum to be included in an exhibit that toured in Japan. Her quilts have appeared in Patchwork Quilts magazine, a well-known publication among quilters. Several quilts have been displayed in the Quilt Museum in Golden.

In quilting circles Barb is known for her creativity and her expert knowledge of fabrics and patterns. During the winter months, Barb is busy teaching quilting classes and as she often says "When life goes to pieces, try quilting."

In addition to seeing over 100 of her quilts, there will be an opportunity to purchase quilts and purchase tickets for a chance to win a quilt.
