Radical Nonfiction Book Group with Carlo
Discusses How to Hide an Empire: A History of the Greater United States by Daniel Immerwahr
Led by former Greenlight bookseller Carlo, our Radical Nonfiction Book Group meets monthly to read and discuss nonfiction titles related to the issues of history, politics, and the promise of a better world, just around the corner!
For September, the group returns with Daniel Immerwahr's New York Times Bestseller How to Hide an Empire, a pathbreaking history of the United States’ overseas possessions and the true meaning of its empire. As the New York Times notes, "To call this standout book a corrective would make it sound earnest and dutiful, when in fact it is wry, readable and often astonishing... highlighting the often absurd space that opened up between expansionist ambitions and ingenuous self-regard."
