About the Speaker

Dr. Michele Tagliati is PCLA’s Clinical Research Advisor, Professor of Neurology, Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurology, and Director of the Movement Disorders Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. A graduate of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (summa cum laude), he completed neurology training in Italy before moving to New York, where he pursued fellowships in Neuro-AIDS and Movement Disorders at Mount Sinai and Beth Israel Hospital.

An internationally recognized leader in Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and neuromodulation, Dr. Tagliati has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and has been principal investigator on numerous NIH- and foundation-funded clinical trials. Tagliati pioneered the use of deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's and dystonia, and his work has advanced the science and clinical practice of deep brain stimulation, contributing advances in the definition of outcome predictors and therapeutic settings of DBS.

He is currently involved in research on the role of nonmotor and nondopaminergic mechanisms in the pathophysiology of Parkinson's, as well as biomarker-driven approaches to early and prodromal Parkinson’s disease. He has received multiple awards for his contributions, including the APDA Exceptional Achievement Award and the NICHE Trailblazer Award, and continues to shape the field through research, mentorship, and leadership in professional societies.
