All the Flowers: An Artist Talk with Samuel Spurrier
Join exhibiting artist Samuel Spurrier for a conversation about the inspirations, materials, and deeply personal process behind All the Flowers. The program opens with a curator's introduction by Greg Robinson and a short film screening that offers a glimpse into Spurrier's distinctive artistic practice.
In conversation with BIMA Director of Learning & Engagement Jenna d'Anna, Spurrier will explore how his three enduring passions for gardening, nature, and fabric have intertwined over the past decade in his work. Beginning with the soil itself, he transforms botanical dyes and flowers into richly layered textiles and expressive inkblot compositions using a technique known as klecksography. Drawing on years of experience in floral design, Samuel's work embraces lush color, organic forms, and repetition as both artistic expression and a way of staying grounded in the present moment and deepening his connection with the natural world.
