Latinas Shaping the Future: We Are the Revolution

This Hispanic Heritage Month, Jefas PDX and Xcelerate Women are bringing together Portland's Latina changemakers and allies for an evening of purpose, power, and community. We're proud to co-present the second Latinas Shaping the Future — and this year, the theme hits different.

"We Are the Revolution" is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: Latinas across Portland are already creating change. Every single day. And revolution doesn't always look like a megaphone. Sometimes it looks like building wealth in our communities. Writing the book. Prioritizing rest. Making art. Raising the next generation with pride. Choosing yourself.

On September 15, we're gathering at NW Natural's Portland space for an evening designed to celebrate the many ways Latinas show up — and to remind each other that we need every single one of us. This event is open to all who want to be in the room, learn, and stand alongside our community.

Meet the Lineup

Panel: "We Need Us All" Co-moderated by Jefas PDX co-founders Ashley K. Stoyanov Ojeda and Viridiana Ponce, this conversation brings together Latinas who are each contributing to the movement in their own way:

• Dr. Raquel Muller — Psychologist & Financial Literacy Educator, How Money Works
• Sylvia Salazar — Political Educator and Content Creator, Tono Latino

From film to finance to political education, this panel is proof that resistance lives everywhere.

Interactive Session: Melissa Duran Fitness instructor Melissa Duran gets the room moving — because taking care of ourselves is resistance too.

Keynote: "Our Resilience Is Resistance" Miryam Valdivia, life and leadership coach and founder of the Inner Pionera™ framework, closes out the evening. A first-generation Latina and daughter of Peruvian immigrants, Miryam's work centers equity-centered leadership and empowering Latinas to lead authentically. She's also an Xcelerate Women coach — and we can't wait to hear her speak.
