Learning the Language of Creation book discussion group

While there are many books on ecological restoration and its benefits to humanity, this book focuses on human healing as a prerequisite to bringing about ecological healing. Written by a Catholic sister who is also a professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Notre Dame, she intends the book for a broad audience – “for scientists and engineers … for non-scientists and citizens…for Catholics and non-Catholics…” and for all concerned with how we as human persons can come together to care for our common home. She opens the book with a quote from Pope Francis: “If we learn how to listen, we can hear in the voice of creation a kind of dissonance. On the one hand, we can hear a sweet song in praise of our beloved creator, on the other, an anguished plea, lamenting our mistreatment of this our common home”. She closes her prolog with this invitation: “What can be done to bring about harmony so that the “sweet song” of creation can be heard again?
