Great night of comedy & community in Takoma Park at Busboys and Poets.

Comedy as a Second Language is a live, interactive show featuring the stand-up comedy of immigrant and 1st generation performers. Audiences love this show! Enjoy lots of fun with our comics as they share stories and jokes about their lives, their families and the relationship with their new home.

  • Showtime: September 3 at 7pm (doors 6:45pm) in the side theater. You can order food during the show or come early to eat beforehand in the main room.
  • We have an incredible lineup of stand up comedy for you.
  • Tickets: Grab tickets now (early access on sale now!) or reserve a table for two or four.

Busboys and Poets Takoma, 235 Carroll Street NW, Washington DC 20012 in the side theatre. The venue has a full menu of food and drink, including delicious mocktails and cocktails.

Getting There: There is street parking near the venue and it is also a short walk from the Takoma Station (red line).


This show is part of Improbable's monthly series, Takoma Comedy Night, which happens on Thursdays at Busboys and Poets Takoma. Each month we bring a great chance for laughs and fun for the community. It feels good to laugh and we promise to deliver.

About Improbable Comedy: Founded in 2011 by social worker-by-day, comedy impresario-by-night Kim Levone, Improbable Comedy is a locally based production company focused on live stand-up comedy. Improbable Comedy has produced hundreds of shows in venues around the Montgomery County area, including a series of free public shows in partnership with the Montgomery County Parks Department and the SPRUNG! Comedy Festival, now in its fifth year. Improbable Comedy is highly invested in the community and is known for presenting underrepresented groups and talent.
