The Jaco Pastorius Big Band, featuring a powerhouse ensemble of more than 15 musicians, will take the stage for an unforgettable live concert honoring Jaco’s groundbreaking music and creative spirit. The evening will also feature special guest artists, including Peter Erskine, Hadrien Feraud, grammy winner Ed Calle, Randy Bernsen, and more. Bringing together musicians, friends, fans, and members of the community, this will be a one-of-a-kind celebration.

Through dynamic big-band arrangements, bandleader Peter Graves will share stories and reflections from his many years touring and recording with Jaco, offering personal insight into the music and the moments behind it. Performances of his unmistakable catalog will celebrate the artistry that transformed the role of the electric bass and continues to influence generations of musicians around the world.

The celebration also marks 50 years since a defining period in Jaco’s career, including the release of his self-titled debut album, Jaco Pastorius, and his appearances on landmark 1976 recordings such as Pat Metheny’s Bright Size Life, Weather Report’s Black Market, Joni Mitchell’s Hejira, and more. The evening will revisit music from this pivotal era alongside other favorites from throughout Jaco’s career.

As a former Pompano Beach resident, Jaco’s story is deeply connected to South Florida. Set in the intimate Pompano Beach Cultural Center, just miles from where Jaco’s children and grandchildren have grown up, this special birthday celebration will honor his extraordinary life, his local roots, and the enduring impact of his music.
