Objective And GoalsThe AISS is an independent, not-for-profit research institute dedicated to providing qualitative, non-partisan and policy-oriented research, publication, translation of books/reports, professional training and policy advocacy with distinct focus on Afghanistan. A cross-cutting priority of AISS is to empower the youth through specific programmatic initiatives, as the youth represent the future of the country.Means And ActivitiesIn order to contribute to ongoing efforts in consolidating Afghanistan’s fragile achievements and realize the nation’s immense human and natural resources, the AISS uses a series of instruments, including:Conducting independent researchesEntering partnership agreement with respected and like-minded research institutesPublication (books and journals)Translation of important books/articles from English into Farsi/Pashto and vice versaOrganizing seminars, conferences, workshops (provincial , national, international) and briefingsOffering executive type leadership training programsInitiating and sponsoring annual public awards for recognizing outstanding Afghan youth and international personalityIntegrating conventional and modern social media tools/networks in all its activities.

On behalf of the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS), we are pleased to invite you to a special cultural evening, “Rumi Night in Washington,” dedicated to celebrating the life, thought, and enduring legacy of Jalaluddin Mohammed Balkhi (Rumi).Through music, conversation, and cultural presentations, the evening will celebrate Rumi’s message of love, freedom, tolerance, and human coexistence, while bringing together diverse intellectual, cultural, and spiritual traditions. The evening will feature: 1. Welcoming Remarks by Director of Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS), Dr Davood Moradian. 2. Musical Performance by LA Daf Ensemble. 3. Launch of Persian translation of the book “Reopening Muslim Minds: A Return to Reason, Freedom, and Tolerance” by Mr. Mustafa Akyol, Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute's Center for Global Liberty and Prosperity / Moderator: Dr. Wahid Golrani, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University. 4. Video Screening: The Story of an Afghan Jewish Passport. 5. Keynote Address by Professor Michael Barry, Princeton University professor and Historian of the Greater Middle East and Islamic world. 6. Cake-Cutting Ceremony Celebrating the 819th Anniversary of Rumi’s Birth. 7. Mystical Music Performance by LA Daf Ensemble. 8. Dinner.
