Course Description:
Join Northwest Eye Surgeons for a 2-hour continuing education course (COPE Accredited) on cataract surgery co-management designed for optometrists who work with surgical partners.
Key topics include:
- Evolution of cataract surgery and current surgical techniques
- Overview of IOL options (monofocal, toric, multifocal, EDOF, LAL, IC-8 Apthera, and emerging technologies)
- Patient selection, personality and lifestyle considerations, and managing expectations
- Optimizing the ocular surface and managing MGD/dry eye prior to surgery
- Case-based IOL selection in complex patients (glaucoma, macular disease, irregular corneas, prior refractive surgery, etc.)
- Intraoperative tools for reducing refractive surprises and enhancing outcomes
- Post-operative care, common complications, and when to send patients back to the surgical team
