Artist Talk and Reception
You're invited to a special evening with featured artist and co-curator of the Sequesterings exhibition Aurora Robson. Enjoy refreshments while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the exhibition and taking a deep-dive into Robson's work, which inspired the exhibition.
Working primarily with post-consumer and post-industrial plastics, Robson sculpts toxic waste into playful yet slightly menacing forms. Her practice explores the material irony of plastic, simultaneously indestructible and destructive, transforming it into objects of beauty while keeping its troubling origins ever-present. The work serves as both a personal meditation on childhood fears and a broader engagement with worldwide plastic pollution while conveying the delicate connection between human culture and the natural world.
Currently on view at the Center for Visual Art, Sequesterings brings together ten contemporary artists who utilize discarded materials to explore the intersections of art, environmental activism, and human impact on nature, challenging viewers to confront our world’s ecological crisis through the lens of radical transformation.
