The Caregiver Connection Walk is a free community event designed to bring caregivers together to connect, enjoy the outdoors, and build supportive relationships in a welcoming environment.

Who can attend?

The walk is open to all caregivers in our community. You do not have to be a Big Bend Hospice patient, family member, or caregiver to participate. Whether you're caring for a spouse, parent, family member, friend, or neighbor, you're welcome to join us.

Is there a cost to participate?

No. The Caregiver Connection Walk is free and open to the community.

How long is the walk?

The walk typically lasts about one hour.

How far will we walk?

Accepted Answer

We'll walk at a comfortable, conversational pace. This is not a race—participants are encouraged to walk at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

Do I have to complete the entire walk?

No. You are welcome to take breaks, shorten your walk, or leave early if needed.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing and supportive walking shoes appropriate for the weather.

We recommend bringing a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat or sunglasses if desired.

Can I bring the person I care for?

Yes, if they are able to safely participate. Caregivers are responsible for providing any assistance or supervision their loved one may need throughout the event.

Do I have to talk or share my caregiving experience?

Not at all. Whether you want to chat with others, listen, or simply enjoy the walk, you're welcome to participate in whatever way feels most comfortable.

What happens if there is bad weather?

If weather conditions make the walk unsafe, updates will be shared through Big Bend Hospice's communication channels.
