Isabel Allende is a novelist, feminist and philanthropist whose books have sold more than 80 million copies in over 40 languages. She is the author of numerous bestselling and critically acclaimed works, including The Wind Knows My Name, Violeta, A Long Petal of the Sea, The House of the Spirits, Of Love and Shadows, Eva Luna and Paula.

Her many honors include fifteen honorary doctorates, induction into the California Hall of Fame, the PEN Center Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Anisfield-Wolf Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2014, Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and in 2018 she received the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. She lives in California with her husband and dogs.

Her 2021 book, Let’s Talk About Hard Things, explores how we can better navigate life’s most fraught conversations. She lives in Berkeley, California, with her husband and two children.
