Will we be telling sexual stories?

Accepted Answer

No. While we name the erotic as a source of power (in Audre Lorde's sense), and sex may be referenced in theory or metaphor, no one is asked to tell or hear explicit sexual stories. Everything we explore applies to hunger, delight, longing, joy, and the moments you feel most alive.

Is this considered therapy?

Accepted Answer

This is a storytelling and creative practice space, not therapy. You're warmly encouraged to bring any therapeutic processing to your own trusted supports. That said, the space is designed to be welcoming, gentle, and body-forward. Safety and consent built into every exercise.

Question 3

Do I need to be an experienced storyteller?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Beginners and experienced storytellers are equally welcome. If you're willing to show up, experiment, and listen generously, you belong here.

Question 4

Do I have to have my camera on?

Accepted Answer

No. You're invited to turn your camera on if and when it feels right, but there's never pressure to do so.

What is the "erotic" in Lorde's sense?

Accepted Answer

Audre Lorde's 1978 essay "Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power" defines the erotic not as sexuality, but as our deepest sense of aliveness: the feeling of doing something fully with our whole being. The erotic is presence, pleasure & the places in your life and stories where you feel most alive.

What platform will the workshop be on?

The workshop will be held on Zoom. You'll receive a link in your confirmation email and a reminder before the event. You do not need a Zoom account to attend; a link and password will be provided.

What is the POP Arc?

Accepted Answer

The Licensed "Pursue One Peak" Arc — or POP Arc — is Janine's preferred way to talk about the classic single-climax story shape. In this workshop we play with it, alongside wilder, more punk story shapes, allowing pleasure and presence to decide what works.

What is your refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Full refunds are available up to 7 days before the event. After that, credits toward a future workshop can be offered. If you have financial concerns, reach out directly before booking.

I can't afford the ticket price. Can I still attend?

Accepted Answer

What if I have a safety concern about attending?

Accepted Answer

This workshop is built on nervous‑system safety and trust in the room. If anything about attending feels unsafe to you at any point, please contact me directly. You don’t need to explain the details; we’ll find a way forward that honors your safety (a private session, a different date, or a refund).
