Carly Schieffer: Prepare, Present, Practice, and Prove through Planning
Come and experience a taste of what Kodály-inspired teaching looks like!
Prepare: Discover how to utilize singing games, instruments, and iconic notation to help student internalize rhythmic and melodic concepts.
Present: Learn the art of guided discovery to introduce symbols, signs, and names for musical concepts.
Practice: Explore a variety of engaging games, manipulatives, and reading/writing activities to reinforce known elements.
Prove: Develop practical, student-centered assessment tools to measure aural, visual, and kinesthetic mastery.
PLANNING: Participants will be provided a sample yearly, monthly, and daily lesson plan to provide a scope and sequence throughout the school year. Participants will participate in an interactive discussion as to how to implement the active music-making process into their own school’s curriculum.
