This is a two session class – please be sure to see the scheduled dates for both sessions. Create a stunning river lazy susan, approx. 11” in diameter, using beautiful walnut hardwood and colored epoxy. Students will make a custom wooden platform and use specialized hardware for the turning mechanism. This beginner-friendly class is split into two sessions to allow time for the epoxy to properly cure between sessions. Learn the techniques used to prepare an epoxy river board (about the size of a cutting board). Learn the fundamentals using Rockler’s silicon rectangular mold, clamping, shaping, sanding, and finishing. Learn how to calculate the needed amount of resin and hardener; mix, color/tint; and pour the epoxy into the mold. During the second session (5 hours), after the epoxy has cured, learn how to use a router and Rockler’s circle cutting jig; attach the lazy susan hardware; and standard woodworking tools and techniques to finish the project to a nice luster. Leave with an attractive epoxy river lazy susan that can be used as a serving platter or charcuterie board. We will provide the wood, epoxy, hardware kit, finishing supplies, and instructions.
