EXPLORE THE 1916 STORY IN GALWAY

Bí linn Dé Sathairn, 18 Iúil, le haghaidh turas ceithre huaire an chloig a scrúdóidh scéal Éirí Amach na Cásca i nGaillimh i 1916.

Tabharfaidh an treoraí turas ó Ghaillimh, Jim Ward, sinn ar thuras bus ceithre huaire an chloig ‘as Gaeilge’ chuig na suíomhanna inar éirigh muintir na Gaillimhe amach in aghaidh Impireacht na Breataine i gCáisc 1916.

Mar a dúirt Jim linn ar shiúlóid dhá uair an chloig iontach trí Ghaillimh réabhlóideach i mí na Bealtaine, tharla formhór ghníomhaíochtaí na reibiliúnach i nGaillimh lasmuigh den chathair.

Tá líon teoranta daoine ann, cé go bhfuil an turas seo saor in aisce. Beidh an bus ag fágáil an charrchlóis ag cúl Óstán na nÁirsí ag 11am.

Tá an turas seo maoinithe ag Gaeltacht an Eachréidh.

Join us on Saturday, July 18, for a four hour tour which explores the story of the Easter Rising in Galway in 1916.

The acclaimed Galway tour guide Jim Ward will bring us on a four hour bus tour ‘as Gaeilge’ to the sites where Galway people rose up against the British Empire in Easter 1916.

As Jim told us on a fascinating two hour walk through revolutionary Galway in May, most of the rebel activities in Galway took place outside the city.

Our bus tour will take in Killeeneen, Clarinbridge, Oranmore, Carnmore Cross, Athenry Model Farm, Moyode Castle and Limepark House in Peterswell.

Our bus will leave the car park at the rear of The Arches Hotel at 11am sharp. While the tour is free of charge, you must book a ticket in advance to secure a place with us. We will return to The Arches at about 3 or 4pm and some knowledge of Irish is required, as this guided bus tour is in our native language.
