Indigo Hour: Pure Sweetness Band featuring Gayle Price at the Blue Room
Gayle Price and the Pure Sweetness Band open the weekend with powerhouse soul, R&B, and gospel. Friday at 5:30 pm — $5; AJM members free.
The Indigo Hour is how the Blue Room does happy hour: live music on the bandstand starting at five-thirty, the week left at the door. This week, Gayle Price brings her Pure Sweetness Band.
Price was born to sing — literally. Her mother, the late Priscilla Bowman, had a number-one record in 1955 and was known as "the original Rock and Roll Mama." Gayle grew up singing in her grandfather's Kansas City church, and after a lifetime of carrying the music inside her, founded Pure Sweetness Entertainment Band in 2018 and stepped into the spotlight on her own terms. Her sound is sultry, powerful, and soulful — R&B, pop, rock, gospel, and country in a single evening. She's sung the National Anthem at Royals games, won the Truman's Got Talent grand prize, and performed in "The Color Purple."
Her motto: you're never too old to live your dream. Come early, grab a drink, and watch that dream on full display. Admission is $5; AJM members are free.
