Multi-County Private Well & Water Quality Workshop

Multi-County Private Well & Water Quality Workshop

Overview

This multi-county workshop will focus on residential private wells and water quality for homeowners. Attend in-person or virtually via Zoom.

Do you know where your well water comes from or how well water may become contaminated? Want to know when you should have your water tested and what to test for?

Join us for a workshop to learn about how private wells and septic systems work, maintenance, and about drinking water quality. Learn how to help ensure a safe drinking water supply for you and your family!

As part of our workshop, we will be offering the following water tests for FREE:

  • Water test for total coliform bacteria and E. coli
  • Water test through the UF that will include nitrate, pH, suspended solids, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, sodium and chloride.

Free testing is available to the first 30 households and is limited to one bacteria test and one UF test per household. Additional tests may be purchased. We will also facilitate testing for lead, if purchased by the well user.**

We will be covering treatment options if contaminants are found. Testing kits will be provided in the workshop and samples will need to be returned after the event.

IMPORTANT: Samples for testing must be returned after the workshop on Tuesday, September 22nd. Drop-off locations are available in Bay, Calhoun, Jackson and Washington counties from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please consider this when signing up for testing.

Registration Options - you may attend in-person or virtually via Zoom. To sign up for the facilitated water testing, please select the test or tests you want along with their quantity under the Add-Ons section during ticket selection.

As part of our workshop, we are offering free testing for total coliform and E.coli. It is recommended that each household select one water testing for bacteria and one for UF. Free testing is avialble on a first come, first served basis.

All testing options can be added at the end of the workshop, if you would like to learn more about them before deciding on the testing. Free tests are not guaranteed to still be available at that time.

If you attend virtually and select a water testing option, you will be responsible for picking up a collection kit at a designated UF/IFAS Extension office prior to the sample return date.

**Discounted testing is not available for lead testing.
