Undoing a Knot: The Steel Yard's Summer Resident Exhibition Opening

The Steel Yard is a center for creative activity and events. We’re a collaborative of artists, craftspeople, makers, and learners. We want to share what we make and how we make it with you. Every October we pour molten iron through 30-foot metal sculptures!  In the summer we open our studio and demonstrate our crafts of blacksmithing, iron pouring, welding, ceramics, and jewelry.Come witness the industrial arts in action at our historic campus that features soaring steel gantries and the enormous sculptural remnants of Iron Pours past.

The Steel Yard and Make Do Studios are excited to announce the 2025-2026 Steel Yard Residents’ Summer Exhibition, Undoing a Knot.

72 Tingley St

Undoing a Knot will be on display at 72 Tingley St, Providence, RI from July 25, 2026 through August 20, 2026. Undoing a Knot opens with a reception on Saturday, July 25 from 6 pm to 9 pm. The exhibition features work by Julia Ambros, Chantel Bollinger, Dominik Cunningham, Prinshu Gautam, Nadia Nazar, and Alex Tum. There will be an artist panel on Wednesday, July 29, with a reception at 5 pm and panel starting at 6 pm, as well as a closing reception on August 20 from 6 pm to 9 pm. The gallery will be open to the public on Thursdays through Sundays during the exhibition run, or by appointment via email (residency@thesteelyard.org).
