After5Houston - A Journey Through Coffee: From Seed to Cup

After5Houston - A Journey Through Coffee: From Seed to Cup

Overview

Trace coffee's journey from seed to cup with Tenfold's Andrea Fernandez, and discover why your morning cup tastes the way it does

A Conversation About Coffee, Culture, and Your Morning Cup

Join a Beverage and Education Manager at Houston's own Tenfold Coffee Co, for A Journey Through Coffee: From Seed to Cup, an intimate evening that follows coffee through every stage of its journey. Drawing on years of training baristas and building coffee curriculums, Andrea will trace the path from origin and harvest through fermentation, drying, and the heat of the roast - unpacking how each step quietly shapes the flavor in your cup.

How did a wild berry from the highlands of Ethiopia end up in nearly every kitchen on earth? What actually happens between a coffee cherry on the branch and the cup in your hands? And why does the same bean taste completely different depending on how it's grown, fermented, dried, and roasted?

This isn't a stuffy tasting seminar. It's an approachable conversation about the craft and science behind something most of us drink every day without a second thought. Whether you're a pour-over devotee or just someone who can't start the morning without it, you'll leave understanding - and tasting - coffee a little differently than when you walked in.

Sip, think, and connect with fellow curious adults at After5Society.

What we'll cover:

  • The origins of coffee and how it spread throughout the world
  • How a coffee cherry develops from seed to harvest
  • How the seeds are fermented and dried, and how that process changes the flavor
  • How heat application, or roasting, develops the final product

About the Speaker:
