Last year we did an all malt tasting with Murphy Quint and now we’re back to taste through their bourbon and rye expressions.Join us to taste through 6 fantastic releases from Iowa’s jewel distillery. Did you know that Iowa produces more corn than any other state? It stands to reason that an Iowa distillery would have some really great bourbon. The Whiskeys We Will Be Sampling:Cedar Ridge Barrel Proof Straight BourbonCedar Ridge’s Barrel Proof Bourbon is a small batch bourbon crafted from Iowa corn, aged in char #3 barrels and non-chill filtered. All their barrels are aged in non-climate-controlled rickhouses, where the Midwest weather exposes them to temperature swings of over 100 degrees each year – resulting in a unique flavor profile that can’t be achieved in other climates. Bottled at 116 Proof, it’s a bold, full flavor bourbon.Cedar Ridge Double Barrel Straight BourbonFor this annual release, Cedar Ridge transferred their original Iowa bourbon into a second, new American oak barrel to capture the full-bodied flavors of its freshly charred staves. The secondary finishing cask draws out the bold qualities of our classic bourbon and the rich flavors of Iowa corn.Slipknot No. 9 Iowa Whiskey - The Brown Double BarrelBuilding on the success of Slipknot's award-winning No. 9 whiskeys, The Brown features 75% Double Barrel Rye and 25% Double Barrel Bourbon both aged in two new American oak barrels to create bold, spicy and heavy oak flavors. The whiskeys are blending after aging to give a new dimension of flavor, body, and finish to the final product; all while packing the punch Slipknot No. 9 fans have come to love.Cedar Ridge Nine &amp; Three Quarters RyeAs a milestone release for Cedar Ridge, this Nine &amp; Three Quarters Rye represents nearly a decade of patient Iowa maturation, making it one of the oldest expressions ever to leave our barrel sheds. By utilizing our signature high-malted rye mash bill, this extended aging has transformed those classic toasted biscuit notes into a rich, deep-oak profile. This limited-edition expression features a blend of barrels aged at least nine years—the majority reaching nine years and nine months, with one even crossing ten.Cedar Ridge Single Barrel Collection, Barrel No. 20.0246 - Special ReleaseThe Single Barrel Collection (S.B.C.) is comprised of our Iowa Bourbon barrels hand-selected by Master Distiller Murphy Quint.Each barrel is bottled at cask strength when he deems it ready and only available in limited quantities. Barrel #20.0246 was aged for 6 years and released in April 2026.2025 Anniversary Edition BourbonFor this first time limited release, we took our Iowa Bourbon finished in Tokaji, Ruby Port, Amontillado Sherry Casks and 2nd New American Oak Barrels – expertly blended together by Master Blender Murphy Quint to create the first Cedar Ridge Anniversary Edition Bourbon.In this first release, we featured our range of global wine finishing casks to celebrate and highlight the last 20 years of Cedar Ridge whiskey rooted in wine.

Murphy Quint – Master Blender &amp; Director of Operations at Cedar RidgeMurphy grew up in the business with his parents opening Cedar Ridge Winery &amp; Distillery while he was still a kid. His path to becoming the head distiller and director of operations for the company didn’t just have him working at the family distillery, though. He also spent some time at Stranahan’s Distillery in Denver before returning back to the family business in Swisher, Iowa. Since then he has held many roles, until he ultimately took over as the Master Distiller &amp; Master Blender and is leading the future of whiskey at the Cedar Ridge Distillery.
