August marks I Scream Social’s birthday month (!!!) and we’re celebrating big with poets Nala Washington, Stephanie Niu, Ira Goga, and Osmani R. Ochoa! Leave room for ice cream, RSVP for the giveaways, and bring your most festive writing for the open mic! Presented by <a href="https://hostpublications.com/" title="https://hostpublications.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Host Publications</a>, I Scream Social is a monthly feminist reading series and ice cream party that takes place at Alienated Majesty Books. We aim to celebrate and empower historically marginalized writers and share incredible literature and diverse perspectives to an Austin-area audience. Free &amp; open to all! ***********************Reader Bios************************Best of the Net Nominee Nala Washington is a poet, writer, and educator completing her MFA at Texas State University. You can find her words currently/forthcoming in Remington Review, South Florida Poetry Journal, Midnight &amp; Indigo Lit, The Hemlock Journal, Mouthful of Salt, The Santa Clara Review, and more. Ira Goga is a trans poet and educator currently living in Austin, Texas. Their poems can be found if you look closely. Osmani R. Ochoa is a queer Mexican-Xicano poet and longtime local and national organizer for immigrant and worker rights. Their migrant futurist writing addresses themes of immigration, queerness, and borders. They won the Abode Press Chapbook Prize for How to Survive an Asthma Attack in a Climate Apocalypse. Stephanie Niu is a poet and writer from Marietta, Georgia. Her first full-length poetry collection, I Would Define the Sun, won the inaugural Vanderbilt University Literary Prize.
