Connecting Philanthropy and Community 2026

Connecting Philanthropy & Community (CPC) is the signature annual event of Chicago African Americans in Philanthropy (CAAIP), bringing together philanthropic leaders, nonprofit practitioners, community advocates, and civic partners to celebrate the power of collective action in advancing Black communities.

CPC serves as a premier gathering for dialogue, inspiration, and recognition. The event highlights innovative partnerships between philanthropy and community that are driving equitable outcomes across Chicago and beyond. Through thought-provoking conversations, meaningful networking, and the presentation of the Champion of Social Justice and Advocate for Equity Awards, CPC honors leaders who are transforming systems, challenging inequities, and investing in community-driven solutions.

This year's event will take place at the newly opened Obama Presidential Center and will feature a special keynote conversation with Tonya Allen, one of the nation's most influential philanthropic leaders, moderated by Kayce Ataiyero. Together, attendees will explore the opportunities and responsibilities facing philanthropy in this moment and how we can collectively advance a future rooted in power, joy, resilience, and liberation.

Proceeds from CPC support CAAIP's year-round efforts to strengthen Black leadership in philanthropy, expand equitable investment in Black communities, and create spaces where philanthropy and community can learn, lead, and thrive together.
