Parking

Parking is first come, first served and is limited. Carpooling is strongly encouraged and appreciated, and guests are welcome to use rideshare services to and from the event. Parking spaces may not be reserved, blocked, marked, or claimed prior to the event.

Question 2

It's going to be super hot, can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

No. This event is held outdoors, and summer weather—including heat—is part of the experience. Tickets are non-refundable due to weather conditions such as heat, humidity, sun, or light rain.
We encourage guests to dress appropriately, wear sunscreen, and stay hydrated.

Can I bring a camera?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Cameras are welcome. However, professional photography equipment that takes up excessive space, including large tripods and similar setups, is not permitted unless approved in advance by Reading Coffee Company.

Question 4

Can I bring my own food or beverages?

Accepted Answer

No outside food or beverages are permitted. Reading Coffee Company will have a variety of food, coffee, specialty drinks, beer, wine, and other refreshments available for purchase throughout the event.

Can I bring in a bag?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Small bags, purses, backpacks, and camera bags are permitted. All bags are subject to inspection upon entry. Reading Coffee Company reserves the right to prohibit any item deemed unsafe or disruptive. If you bring in your own food or beverage, you will be asked to leave the event entirely.

What is your Alcohol Policy?

Alcohol Policy: A valid government-issued photo ID is required for the purchase or consumption of any beer or wine. Guests who are unable to provide valid identification will not be served alcohol, regardless of age.

What happens if it rains?

Accepted Answer

This is a rain-or-shine event. Please dress appropriately for weather conditions. In the event of severe weather or railroad operational changes, updates will be communicated through official event channels.

Are children welcome?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! This is a family-friendly event. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Are pets welcome?

Accepted Answer

Only service animals are permitted. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed.

Can I cross the tracks?

Accepted Answer

No. Guests must remain in designated spectator areas and follow all instructions from event staff and railroad personnel. Crossing tracks outside designated areas is strictly prohibited.

Can I bring my own chair?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Guests with General Admission tickets are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs. VIP ticket holders will have reserved seating provided.

Can I bring a drone and fly it?

Accepted Answer

For the safety of our guests, railroad personnel, and train operations, drones are not permitted at the Big Boy Train Event at RCC.

Question 13

How close to the tracks can I get?

Accepted Answer

You must stay at least 25 feet back from the tracks at all times. Viewing locations closest to the tracks that maintain this required distance are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Union Pacific mandates this safe distance for all spectators and drone operators.

What time will Big Boy arrive?

Accepted Answer

Train schedules are subject to change and are controlled by Union Pacific and host railroads. Reading Coffee Company cannot guarantee exact arrival or departure times.
