A Saturday workshop for all ages, to learn something new and take home artworks you made yourself!

Join artist and author Madge Evers for a hands-on introduction to cyanotypes, a fascinating art process that uses sunlight to create beautiful blue-and-white prints. This workshop is a fun and accessible way to explore a unique photographic technique using sunlight, pressed plants and other interesting objects. Everyone will make 3 unique artworks to take home!No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own pressed plants or other objects to incorporate into their designs.☀️ Proceeds from this workshop help support free and low-cost programs at Make-It Springfield, expanding access to creative learning opportunities throughout our community.Come solo or bring a friend—this class is all about joy, creativity, and connecting. Let’s make something beautiful together!$20 / per person Half-price tickets are available if needed. Space is limited so please register to reserve a spot.IN CASE OF RAIN: Don't worry! We will use indoor light boxes to complete the photographic process.-----About the instructor: Madge Evers is a visual artist, educator, and author of <a href="https://madgeevers.com/cyanotype-book-printing-with-the-sun" title="https://madgeevers.com/cyanotype-book-printing-with-the-sun" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Printing With the Sun</a>, a book about the cyanotype process. She uses alternative photography, mushroom spores, and painting to depict landscape details, imagined flora, and the foundational importance of plant life. Madge’s work has been featured in <a href="https://www.antennae.org.uk/back-issues-1" title="https://www.antennae.org.uk/back-issues-1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Antennae</a>: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture, Studio Visit Magazine, and the Brooklyn Review and exhibited at the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Danforth Museum of Art, the Brattleboro Museum, and the Arnold Arboretum, among others. She has completed residencies at Chautauqua Arts, Cill Rialaig in Kerry, Ireland, Oak Spring Garden Foundation, and Mount Auburn Cemetery. In 2021, she was a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship Finalist in Photography. Madge was a public school English teacher for 25 years; she lives and works in western Massachusetts.
