This October, Kleine Opera brings Puccini’s wickedly funny Gianni Schicchi to the heart of Islington — a fast-paced dark comedy of family, greed, deception and inheritance.
When the wealthy Buoso Donati dies, his relatives discover his fortune has been left elsewhere. Desperate to change their fate, they turn to the quick-witted Gianni Schicchi — and an increasingly outrageous plot begins.
At around an hour long, Gianni Schicchi is perfect for first-time opera-goers and seasoned opera lovers alike: funny, theatrical and packed with glorious music, including “O mio babbino caro”, one of the most famous arias of all time.
Our cast brings together some of the UK’s most exciting emerging opera stars, with artists regularly appearing at Glyndebourne, Garsington Opera, Waterperry Opera Festival and Scottish Opera, alongside artists from the National Opera Studio.
