MainStage 4: Sounds of the City
SFCO World Premiere inspired by photos of San Francisco plus Klein Competition Grand prize winner and SF native, cellist Starla Breshears
Fresh from her triumph at the Irving Klein International Competition, San Francisco's own virtuoso cellist and youngest member of the SF Symphony, Starla Breshears, joins the SFCO in a performance of Haydn's radiant Cello Concerto in C Major.
Composer Xavier Muzik’s vivid new multi-media commission "i like my coffee, black" brings San Francisco's legendary neighborhoods to life in sound, inspired by a stunning series of new photographs that capture the soul of our city.
Opening the concert, Richard Strauss's sumptuous Ariadne auf Naxos Opera Overture and Dance Scene brings the excitement and glamour of the Opera House to our concert hall.
