Is this a one-day workshop?

No! This is made up of three sessions—one on Saturday, July 11, one on Wednesday, July 15, and one on Saturday, July 18.

Do I have to attend all three sessions?

No, though attending all three sessions is encouraged to get the full experience. But feel free to drop in to just one or two of the sessions if that's all that works with your schedule!

Question 3

Do I need to have a certain camera?

Accepted Answer

No! One of the reasons we created this workshop is to show that anyone can take incredible portraits no matter what type of camera they have! Make sure you fill out the registration form after you purchase your ticket to let us know what kind of camera you'll be bringing (smartphone, DSLR, etc.)

What will I learn at the workshop?

Accepted Answer

Session 1 teaches you how to use your camera to tell a story. Session 2 is a photo walk in Dallas to build on the principles you learn in Session 1. Session 3 teaches you how to craft your own digital darkroom to refine your visual story.

Question 5

What do I need to bring?

Accepted Answer

Your camera, any accessories that you use with your camera such as lenses, memory cards, lens filters, or tripods, and a notebook for jotting down some notes. For session 3, you'll need to bring a laptop or tablet if you have one.

Question 6

What is included with the registration fee?

Accepted Answer

The registration fee includes access to all three workshop sessions, group instruction with one-on-one guidance, two opportunities to go on a photo walk taking pictures around Dallas, one photographic print of your work, and the opportunity for your work to be featured in a show at an art gallery!

Question 7

Are there any other costs associated with this workshop?

Accepted Answer

Add-ons are available. You can order additional prints of your work, or order custom frames for the gallery display of your work you can do so with your registration or before the end of the last workshop session.

Question 8

Can I bring food & drink?

Accepted Answer

Any drinks that you bring need to be in a sealable container (a bottle with a cap or lid, for example.) For food, you are welcome to bring a snack but we ask that you avoid foods that are messy or crumbly, and foods that have strong smells. Light refreshments and bottles of water will be available.
