The Morris-Jumel Mansion’s Annual George Washington Dinner raises vital funds to support free and low-cost community programs while celebrating the history of Manhattan’s oldest house.
Each year the Morris-Jumel Mansion George Washington Dinner commemorates the 1790 dinner hosted by Washington for members of his Cabinet at the Mansion, but this year it also holds special meaning. September 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Harlem Heights, the first victory for the Patriots and a major boost for the Continental Army, during which the Mansion served as the headquarters for General George Washington.
While the Mansion undergoes a comprehensive exterior restoration, the Dinner will take place at another historic icon of upper Manhattan: The Riverside Church, 91 Claremont Street, New York, NY. The beautiful, gothic-style Assembly Hall will be the venue for our Dinner.

Curtis Archer: Dedicated community development leader and former president of the Harlem Community Development Corporation who helped advance diverse community revitalization projects and initiatives throughout the greater Harlem community .
Laurie Cumbo: Distinguished former Commissioner of the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, who expanded the size and impact of the agency while ensuring that arts and cultural initiatives are inclusive, equitable, and rooted in the community.
