Rural Reflections: A Folk Opera - The Subject of All Things Hector

Red Newt CellarsHector, NY
Overview

A Historic & Poetic Perspective as Told through Spoken Word and Song Scott B Adams, Brett Beardslee, Carol Mikoda, Rich Evans, Eric Aceto

In the tradition of American folklore, join us on a journey through the past and future of Hector, NY, a place where fact and fiction blur. This place of breathtaking landscapes and lake-scapes is REFLECTED IN MUSIC, SONGS, and POETRY. Hear the STORIES of Hector, a place where beloved characters—rugged farmers; dedicated artists, musicians, and wine-makers; culinary innovators; hard-working women and men; brave firemen; community-minded church members; way too cute for their own good children; lake-loving bums; barflies; and sailors—manage to co-exist. Hector Musical Artists, under the direction of Scott B. Adams, present this TWO-ACT MUSICAL.

You’ll laugh. You'll cry. You’ll sleep if you didn't the night before. Mostly, we think you’ll enjoy a great evening.

Held in the delightful and welcoming space of Red Newt Wine Cellars. Show up 30 minutes before show time to place your order for wine and a light dinner fare. Come celebrate the season with a relaxing evening of acoustic music, wine, food, and good company.

Guest Quotes from Rural Reflections Premiere Performance:

This is such a wonderful show blending creative story telling, music and poetry with ancestry and history into a beautiful sonic tapestry. Especially if you love Hector and Seneca lake as much as me!

What an impactful and memorable experience! So much more than a show! Yall gave us so much!

Bravo. You definitely created a work of art with this project. I will never feel the same as I drive through Hector again. Thank you and everyone in the show.

Wow. What a wonderful History of Hector story concert.

It was wonderful! I laughed, I cried, and I learned a lot about our little town. Thank you for all you do to keep the spirit alive around here.

Wonderful storytelling and musicianship, and compelling poetry. Thank you all. As a 25-year Lodidian, I’m an “outsider” with no Hector history, but the people and places celebrated last night have universal resonance for those who choose rural life.
