Can I register for this class if I am not a Currently Certified Nurse Assistant in Georgia?

Accepted Answer

No. This class is for CNAs, you must be a Certified Nurse Assistant to be eligible to become a Certified Medication Aide.

Can I register for this class if I don't currently work in a community in Georgia?

Accepted Answer

No. In order to complete the entire process: online state test and completed competency check by a GA registered CMA instructor, you MUST work in a community that receives services from Guardian Pharmacy.

What happens after the class?

Accepted Answer

Once you attend the 16 hour class, you will return to your community and complete additional hands-on training. Take time to study the training material provided. Once ready, have your Wellness Director contact Guardian Pharmacy. An instructor will come out to complete the next steps.

Question 4

Will I be able to pass medications independently immediately after attending class?

Accepted Answer

No. In order to become certified, a competency check must be completed and entered in to the GA CMA online site. After the competency check is entered, you will then be eligible to complete your state CMA test.  You must pass the test with a minimum score of 80.
