The Historic Homes of Mutton Hill tours of the Perkins Stone Mansion and John Brown House.

Visit the home on the hill, Mutton Hill that is, to see vintage clothing from the 1820s through today and artifacts representing Akron and Summit County history including the Perkins' family role in the development of the BF Goodrich Company. The display was guest curated by Society volunteer Denise Remark Lundell.

Let our guides surprise you with items made locally that are used still today.

Admission includes tours of the Perkins Stone Mansion and John Brown House. To learn more about these structures and the people connected to them before your tour, visit our website at SummitHistory.org.

The theme for the John Brown House permanent display is "Family. Farm. Freedom." Temporary exhibits are also on display. Currently, the recipients of the 2026 Woman's History Woman of the Year Awards posters may be seen. These posters were designed by Jeremy Jenkins, the Society's Community Connector.

Tours are available at 1 pm., 2 pm and 3 pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays except for holidays. Check in at the Mutton Hill Woodshed Emporium (gift shop) behind the Perkins Stone Mansion to start the tour. There is a small paved lot at 465 S. Portage Path, Akron, OH.
