Wine & Diplomacy: The Role of Wine in the Cold War

Overview

Join Erin Dudley in a wine class where we will talk about the history of wine production and use as a diplomacy tool during the Cold War.

While the Soviet Union took control of winemaking in their territories in the decades following World War 2, many tense meetings between leaders across the globe were famously paired with diplomatic toasts. Wine was intertwined with much of the dealings and relationship rebuilding during this incredibly strained period of history. Let's talk about it.

Join us for a casual seated wine class with our Wine Director, Erin Dudley, we will discuss how wine was intertwined with the Cold War while sipping six wines that represent important styles in the conflict at Planet Wine!
