This session is designed to help front-line veterinarians feel more confident managing common eye cases seen in everyday practice. We will review practical diagnostics, treatment strategies, and common pitfalls in primary, urgent, and emergency care settings. Special focus will be placed on decision-making around referral and case triage. Participants will also be updated on new surgical and medical options that can significantly improve patient outcomes.

Program Agenda:

· Review practical approaches to diagnosing and treating common ophthalmic conditions in general, urgent, and emergency practice settings

· Discuss case triage, referral decision-making, and recognition of common clinical pitfalls in veterinary ophthalmology

· Review current medical and surgical ophthalmic treatment options that can improve patient outcomes

1. Improve confidence in diagnosing and managing common ophthalmic cases encountered in primary, urgent, and emergency veterinary practice settings.

2. Apply practical diagnostic techniques, treatment strategies, and triage decision-making skills to determine appropriate case management and referral timing

3. Identify emerging medical and surgical ophthalmic therapies and understand their impact on improving patient care and clinical outcomes.

ABOUT DR. ANDREW ENDERS:

Dr. Andrew Enders is a 2015 magna cum laude graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in New York. He also holds a bachelor of science degree from Clemson University in South Carolina, graduating summa cum laude in 2011, and a master of science in biomedical and veterinary sciences from Virginia Tech, where he also graduated summa cum laude, and his thesis was in canine glaucoma.

The Maryland native is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists, and performed his internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City.

For many years, he owned miniature Schnauzers and currently owns a rescued Cavalier. His hobbies include cooking, martial arts (he holds black belts in Taekwondo and Haidong Kumdo), and yoga. He also enjoys learning foreign languages, is fluent in Spanish and Italian, and is currently taking lessons in Portuguese.
