Welcome to the Higher Ground Society Freedom School 2026: Elba event! Join us at the Elba Public Library on June 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM (Central Time) for a day filled with learning, growth, and community. This is a unique opportunity to connect with community and expand your knowledge in a supportive environment. University of Louisiana, Lafayette assistant professor of history and Black studies, Dr. Theodore Foster III will be leading us in exploring how literacy and storytelling can help build a more informed, engaged, and equitable society. With an eye on current events, together we'll examine the role of Civil Rights Movement history and diverse perspectives in preserving democratic values, inspiring civic participation, and empowering the next generation of leaders.Light lunch will be provided.
