Overview

Camp Lean On Me is a grief support camp for children experiencing the loss of a loved one.

Excitement is building for the Hospice of South Georgia's annual children’s grief camp, Camp Lean On Me. The camp will offer children time to work through their loss in a supportive setting. We invite you to refer any child from the ages of 6-17 years who has experienced a close personal loss through the death of a parent, grandparent, sibling, or close relationship. This camp experience is provided at no cost. Camp will be held at the 4-H Club Campground in Lake Park, Georgia over the weekend of September 26th and 27th.

This is a 2-day camp, not overnight.

Day One (Saturday, September 26th):

Registration is from 8:00 – 8:45 AM. Camp activities will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 3:30 PM. Lunch will be provided. Pickup is from 3:30 – 4 PM.

Parents and guardians are invited to join a support and educational session beginning at 9:00 AM to learn more about how grief and loss affect children and adolescents and how to best support them through the healing process. Light refreshments will be provided.

Day Two (Sunday, September 27):

Sign-in is from 9:00 – 9:15 AM. Camp activities will begin at 9:15 AM. The Celebration of Life Service/Closing Ceremony will begin at from 11:00 PM followed by a cookout for this years campers and their families. Camp will conclude at 12:30pm.

The deadline for camp registration is September 11, 2026, and space is limited to the first 35 children referred and confirmed.

Individuals who are aware of children in their school, business, church, or practice who have experienced the loss of an important person through death are encouraged to contact Paran Holloway, Bereavement Coordinator at Hospice of South Georgia, at paran.holloway@sgmc.org or 229-433-7039. When making a referral, please include the child’s name and age, parent or guardian contact information, and your own contact details. Hospice of South Georgia staff will then reach out directly to each child’s parent or guardian.
