Caregivers Outreach: Youth Empowerment (COYE) is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting youth caregivers—young people who assist family members living with illness, disability, aging, or other challenges. Through education, community partnerships, and supportive programming, COYE works to ensure that youth caregivers are recognized, supported, and empowered to succeed both in their caregiving roles and in their personal development.

Nationally, millions of children and adolescents provide care within their homes, often without formal support or acknowledgment.In New York State:• Youth caregivers are not formally identified in schools, healthcare systems, or social services• There are no standardized supports or pathways to assist them• Many experience chronic stress, academic challenges, and social isolationDespite their contributions, youth caregivers are often misunderstood or overlooked, leaving them to manage complex responsibilities alone.The New York State Youth Caregiver Coalition is forming to change that.THE COALITIONThe coalition brings together:• Education systems• Healthcare providers• Community-based organizations• Youth-serving agencies• Policy and advocacy leaders• Researchers and evaluators• Current &amp; Former Youth Caregivers Ready to connect with fellow supporters of young caregivers across New York State?
