SPOTLIGHT: Pro Dance with Margie Jiang

Rae Studios combines classes to encourage and strengthen a dancers fundamentals along with strength and flexibility training. With our variety of classes offered, we appeal to our local SF students whose goals range from gaining fitness stamina, to dancing in high-intensity cardio dance, to perfecting their dance technique. We offer 50+ classes available for both in-studio and outdoor at UN Plaza/Civic Center. Learn from instructors and choreographers from around the world.

This Spotlight focuses on the NBA Pro Dance style, specifically jazz funk—expect dynamic textures and full out choreography.

Description:This Spotlight focuses on the NBA Pro Dance style, specifically jazz funk—expect dynamic textures, full out choreography, and an emphasis on performance (as if you were on the court in front of thousands of basketball fans!). The class will start with a warm up, move into choreography, and end with small groups. Choreography will be taught in chunks, sections will be broken down, and dancers are encouraged to ask questions throughout class. Although the choreography difficulty may lean more Intermediate/Advanced, all levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. This environment is supportive, empowering, and community-oriented, with all dancers in class helping one other reach their goals!Suggested Wardrobe:Athletic shorts, leggings, tank tops, or tee shirts. Sneakers recommended. Margie Jiang (IG: @margieajiang) is a Bay Area native, former NBA dancer, and dance instructor. She grew up dancing competitively and was on the Cal Dance Team at UC Berkeley, leading the team as a Co-Captain during her senior year. She went on to dance with the Golden State Warriors during the 2021-2022 season, as part of the championship team! Margie continues to choreograph and teach dance classes, as well as run a local pro dance training program with her network of current and former pro dancers. In her free time, she loves to travel and leads SF Social Club, a social community in San Francisco.
